The places to tour include

From Invergordon:-

Loch Ness with its iconic Castle of Urquhart and Mysterious Monster.

Culloden Battlefield where Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobite fought the last major engagement on British soil. The state of the art visitor centre rings the people and events to life. Having worked at Culloden I am well placed to guide you on the Battlefield

Cawdor Castle with its tenuous connection to Shakespeare’s Macbeth. This castle and gardens has been home to the same family for more than 600 years.

Inverness with its river running through the city its castle and cathedral and shopping.

Benromach distillery where a tour of one of the smaller distilleries gives an ideal opportunity to sample and buy a great single malt.

Further afield is Fort William, and of course Eilean Donan Castle the most romantic in the Highlands if not the world.

From Portree:-

Here you can explore the Island of Skye, this 639 square mile island the second biggest in the Hebrides allows a visit of places like Dunveggan Castle home to the Faerie Flag, Talisker Whisky distillery, Armadale Castle, Flora MacDonald’s grave, and the Museum of Island life with its quaint Black Houses.

Ullapool: - Travel along the dramatic coast to Osgood Mackenzie’s gardens, here in the 19th century Osgood created a garden using the Gulf Stream to grow tropical plants and tree’s in the Highlands. we can visit Eilean Donan Castle or Inverness for the day.

 

From Edinburgh:- Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Grassmarket, Holyrood Palace and the new Parliament building, Rosslyn Chapel and further afield places like Stirling Castle, St Andrews etc.;

From Glasgow:- Loch Lomond, Inverary Castle the city with its Science Museum, Cathedral and Acropolis as well as galleries museums and the merchant quarter. These tours are conducted by Duncan McNab.

The Eilean Donan & Loch Ness Shore Excursion Tour

 

Collecting you up from your Cruise Ship,  HTG believes that this is one of the very finest shore excursions in Scotland. One that is not offered on Coaches from the Port. This tour commences leaving Invergordon around one hour after docking dependant on ship arrival and is a chance to visit Eilean Donan if you missed the chance at Portree.

Meeting you at the end of the pier he will escort you to the vehicle and will explain the tour day we have in store. Travelling along and explaining the Cromarty Firth and Black Isle that you have viewed from your ship as we drive towards Loch Ness you may glimpse the Common Seals that colonise the Firth. Highland Tour Guide will explain the topography of the area and then swing through the old Viking town of Dingwall. Travelling to Loch Ness we arrive at the most famous lake in the World, and home to Nessie. He will explain the most famous lake in the world Loch Ness, he will explain the history of the creature in Loch Ness and the methods used to try and explain the mystery of the beast. No visit to Loch Ness would really be complete without a chance to view Urquhart Castle (free with an Scottish Heritage Pass see Information Page) the iconic symbol of Loch Ness. Your guide will reveal the secrets of the Castle and why technology made Castles like Urquhart obsolete by the 17th Century. A visit can be made if required. Travelling along the lake we arrive at Invermoriston where we strike west to Kintail and some dramatic scenery, passing the five sisters and stopping to view Roderick MacKenzie's Grave, before arriving at the most romantic Castle in the World. Its iconic bridge and history of its construction will be told as we arrive for our visit, made famous in movies like Highlander and the World is Not Enough and another 21 major motion pictures. A visit will be made here and maybe lunch at a local inn.

We then return via the Wester Ross trail, following the Kyle to Inverness railway line regarded as one of the most scenic in the world passing through Highland villages and scenery and past Achnasheen, Lochcarron and Loch Garve home of the Highland Kelpie, eventually arriving back at Invergordon. Tour maybe run in reverse depending on day.

If your group is more than 6/7 I can provide larger vehicles however this will require early booking as larger vehicles and coaches are in short supply during the cruising season email for a competitive quote.
