Portree Shore Excursions Cuillin's and Castles Tour - North.

Skye is the second largest island in the Hebrides at 639 square miles and on this tour your inverness tour guide takes you North to see some of the best Skye has to offer. Leaving Portree we pass the Old Man of Storr, not one of the locals but a finger of rock 165 foot high. Then it is along the east coast of Skye and on to the Kilted Rock where the water from the waterfall can go up rather than down! We head past Staffin where the population continue to keep the Gaelic language alive. Our next visit is to the Museum of Island Life (fee) and Flora MacDonald's grave the young woman who saved Bonnie Prince Charlie. Travelling around the Trotternish peninsula we pass the port of Uig and take in the Fearie Glen. Our main stop is Dunveagan Castle (fee) home of the MacLeods of Skye for 800 years. The castle holds the Fearie Flag  as well as having wonderful gardens that you can stroll through at leisure. Our return to Portree gives us a view of the Black Cuillins as we arrive back at the port with maybe a chance to wonder around the shops before you sail.
